This week we’ve got two – two shows in one. The first half of this week’s show we speak to Kellen Gibbs and George Norman Lippert about the Harry Potter themed fan film production “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing”. There’s an interesting spin on how this film came about. George wrote a full length fan fiction novel continuing the series originally created by J. K. Rowling. Kellen, in turn, found the story online visualizing George’s writing into a short film. On Saturday, November 21st that film will be put online for the world to see.

The second half of this week’s show we’ll talk to Fanboy Will about his experiences at this year’s Big Apple Comic Convention that was held October 16th through the 18th. He was able to briefly speak with Supergirl’s Helen Slater and Smallville’s John Schneider.

IN TWO WEEKS: We’ll have audio from John Schneider’s panel from the Big Apple Comic Convention. It should be a treat for Dukes of Hazard and Smallville fans alike.

Dan Poole from Alpha Dog Productions is another fan film legend who has helped pave the way for today’s fan film makers. For Fanboy Will, Dan and his film "Green Goblin's Last Stand" is the single reason why he’s a fan of the genre and the reason we do this podcast today. Thanks, Dan!

In this interview we not only talk about Dan's Spiderman film, but we also discuss his second fan production "Wolverine Last Call" made for the San Diego Comic Con. When the San Diego Comic Con refused to play anymore fan films due to the success of Sandy Collora’s "Batman: Dead End" a year before and the license holders having a pissy fit the Wolvie film had to change venues via a local bar near the convention center. This experience tainted Dan’s want to continue with his fan film career so he does what most fan film makers eventually do – he turned to his own original concepts.

This is part one of the two part interview with Dan.

IN TWO WEEKS: After part one must come part two. We continue our talk with Dan who talks about his original project.

Equally as interesting is a little trivia which may be news to a lot of die hard fanboys and girls. Cameron, at the age of four, was instrumental in creating some of the characters appearing in the 80’s He-Man spin off She-Ra. How is that you say? Well, just listen to this week’s podcast to find out.

I’m all shook up because we have part two of our interview with Mr. James Cawley this week. Some people think he’s nothing, but a hound dog – but let me tell you from experience he’s just a teddy bear. In fact he’s been described as a big hunk of love. If the bridge of the Star Trek was a jailhouse that jailhouse would rock if it was Mr. Cawley’s film set located in Upstate New York where Star Trek: Phase II is filmed. Don’t be cruel if you don’t understand Mr. Cawley’s passion towards this project. More suspicious minds would think he’s stepping on the foundation of what Gene Roddenberry has created. If you don’t see his commitment due to the love of the source material then you’ve lost that loving feeling. If you think all these Elvis Presley song references are 'too much' then I‘ll stop now. HEH! It’s not easy to write these blurbs for every episode. If you don’t like it then I am going to sit right down and cry. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go get a banana and peanut butter sandwich. Listen to this Podcast while I'm gone.

Now if I was to sit down the write the most bizarre movie script I could conceive I would write about an Elvis Presley impersonator who loves Star Trek so much he makes an exact duplicate of the 1960's enterprise bridge in a used car dealership and then starts filming his own movies guest starring the cast, crew, and writers of the original series on said bridge. I think the Farrelly brothers would have a field day with this idea. Who would play this character? Perhaps we could rejuvenate Macaulay Culkin's career in playing this part or maybe get an unknown actor to take on the lead – like – say – James Cawley. Cawley's name was totally off the cuff, but I do recall him being in some Hidden Frontier show or something. Then we would invite some of the original Star Trek alumni aboard such as Walter Koenig, George Takei, Denise Crosby and the list goes on. WOW! This movie could play in all the cool art houses. Screw the art houses this is going to Festival de Cannes, baby! We’ll call it "Heartbreak Enterprise" or "Blue Trek Shoes" or "Viva Warp 5" or something to that affect.

James Cawley is our guest this week on the Fan Film Podcast. Mr. Cawley produces a well known series for the internet called Star Trek: Phase II, a show that is literally downloaded by millions of people around the world. This is history in the making folks. This is what fan films are all about. James is feeding the desire for more Trek out to the masses and let me tell you those masses are eating like crazy. What the original license holders will do with this unprecedented popularity is not yet known, but I guarantee in a few years the way Fan Films are perceived are going to be "a" changin’.

Included in the beginning of the podcast is a twelve minute documentary on what was supposed to be the second Star Trek Television show back in the 1970’s. Of course this show never happened, but it was elements of the proposed show that incorporated themselves into what is now Cawley’s (and friends) Star Trek: Phase II. To see the documentary you can check out Part 1 and Part 2 on YouTube.

NEXT WEEK: Part 2 of our two-part interview with James Cawley.

A nice little change on this week’s Fan Film Podcast. We’re talking art. If you’re into Fan Films then I can bet dollars to donuts you’ve seen this gentleman’s work. Jeff Hayes is literally the “poster boy” of the Fan Film world designing some of the most visually stunning one-sheets that could rival any cinema imagery from this summer’s (or any summer’s) Hollywood Blockbusters. His work puts another layer of legitimacy on the very subject we cover here.

Jeff's work includes - Star Trek: Phase II, Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, G.I. Joe: Battle for the Serpent Stone, Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum, Spider-Man: Peter’s Web, and the list extends as far as the eye can see. And Jeff is just getting started!

Roger King from Bag and Board Productions joins us this week on the Fan Film Podcast for part two of a two part interview.

What do you do when you’ve had no film making experience, no editing experience, no acting experience, no…well…you get the idea. The answer of course is to go out and make a 6-part Spider-Man film that incorporates dozens of actors, locations, and effects. When you hear about someone diving face first into a project then you can think of Roger King diving…or should I say swinging into an ambitious project that even seasoned fan film makers would think twice at attempting.

Roger clues us in on the huge list of villains appearing in his project as well as talking about other comic related topics.

One of the hardest and most ambitious heroes to bring to live action I can think of in terms of Fan Films is the character of Spider-Man. Throw on top of that almost the entire group of his arch enemies and your over ambitions will surely be your downfall. That is unless you are Roger King. Roger has turned what would seem to be an impossible project into reality. Not only into reality, but into a quality fan film that spans over six hours of content. YES! Because Roger hasn’t just made one fan film, he's made and is editing six separate films to create one hell of a "Spidey" epic.

We are deeply honored to have Doctor Robbins Barstow as a very special guest this time out on the Fan Film Podcast. Not only has Dr. Robbins produced the only Tarzan fan film that we are aware of, but also has one of his films in the Library of Congress under the National Film Registry.

In all fairness, I’m sure there are other Tarzan fan films out there somewhere. What makes Dr. Robbins film unique and special is that it was produced in 1936 making this a true pioneering film in the realm to what we classify as a “FAN FILM.” The short is called Tarzan and the Rocky Gorge and I’m sure hard core fan film connoisseurs like Fanboy Will and myself will agree it stands head to toe with most of what is coming out of the community today. It’s a fun film totally reflective on the times.

As mentioned above in December 2008, Disneyland Dream was named to the National Film Registry by the Librarian of Congress. This 30-minute amateur documentary film tells the story of the Barstow’s adventures going to the Magic Kingdom back in 1956. If watching someone’s home movies of their vacation doesn’t especially interest you make a special exception in this case as the whole experience makes for an interesting story.

You can watch all of the films by Dr. Robbins at the <a href="http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=subject:"Barstow Travel Adventure."" target=_blank>Barstow Travel Adventure hosted by Archive.org.

Imagine, if you will, getting to write and direct your own films for a living. Then imagine that the actresses you’re hiring to play your characters are sexy and beautiful. On top of that, they wear tight fitting spandex as their characters dictate. Ok. If you’re a girl that part may not be all that exciting for you, but if you’re a hormone with legs like the male species that’s a bit of all right.

The man who we are most jealous of making these babe-elicious superheroine films is Mr. Andy Rodriguez through his company New Phoenix Filmworks International. Andy has created his own universe of characters including such names as RetroGirl, Darkfury, Powercat, and many others. These are just not mere titillation films. Although, all his characters are beautiful women in skimpy outfits the films never go beyond a PG-13 rating and you’ll always find a comic book themed plot to go along with the film.

IN TWO WEEKS: Dr. Robbins Barstow talks about his fan film Tarzan and the Rocky Gorge made in 1936 when he was 16-years-old. Dr. Barstow has some great stories to tell so you won’t want to miss the next FFP.

How do we know Marc Kimball? Oooohhhh…let us count the ways. There’s his Star Wars mockumentary, "The Star Wars Battle of Hoth." There’s his parody political satire, “Star Wars, Dantana Morse for Galactic Senate.” There’s his original short film, “Star Ranger 7: A Force of One.” But Marc is most well known for his classic fan film, “Superman: The Super 8 Movie” which has been picked up, used, and shelved more times than William Shatner’s hairpiece.

We go all over the place with Marc. Mr. Kimball certainly discusses his Superman film and how the powers that be at Warner Brothers initially requested it being taken off the internet. Also discussed is the new Star Trek film almost upon us as well as the Trek franchise as a whole. Just an hour of fanboy (and girl) chaos you would only expect from the FFP.

Make sure you take a look at all the hard (and fun!) work Marc and his peeps have produced by going to Star Ranger 7.com.

NEXT WEEK: “Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes?” Not to say that next week’s guests are snakes. They just happened to have filmed a shot for shot remake of the classic film that spawned the classic line. Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala swing into the show talk about their Fan Film classic based on a classic - Raiders of the Lost Ark.

When Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 1981 it left a lasting impression on a whole generation of movie goers like nothing that came before. Such is true for three young, strapping youths; Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb. Their passion for the film ignited a seven year “arc” of filming their own shot-by-shot adaptation in the backyards of their Mississippi homes.

This week the Fan Film Podcast interviews Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala about their experiences in the making of this classic fan film. The things they did to make this film were one part clever, one part innovative, and two parts crazy.

NEXT WEEK: Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala return as they talk about their experiences meeting Mr. Steven Spielberg and their original project they hope to bring to the big screen.

<itunes:subtitle>The Flash first appeared in the Golden Age Flash Comics #1, January of 1940, from All-American Publi</itunes:subtitle>

The Flash first appeared in the Golden Age Flash Comics #1, January of 1940, from All-American Publications, one of three companies that would eventually merge to form DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, this Flash was Jay Garrick, a college student who gained his speed through the inhalation of hard water vapors, wearing a winged metal helmet reminiscent of the mythological Greek god Hermes. Through the years three other Speedsters would take on the mantle; Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen.

Jason Damian from Influence Films uses the Wally West version of the Flash character for his first foray into fandom filming with "The Flash: Crossover". The film also has Harley Quinn and Talia al Ghul making an unprecedented alliance. When every other fan film is based on the Star Wars or Batman mythos it’s refreshing to see another of DC’s giants make it into live action.

We talk to Jason this week about his DC character offering as well as his upcoming Mortal Kombat film, "The Tobias Diamond".

NEXT WEEK: Marc Kimball does we he loves for a living and loves what he does for play. We’ll talk to Marc about his classic Superman fan film as well as his other offerings. Make sure you check out his site at Star Ranger 7.com.

Enter the most controversial comic book adaptation to film that has ever been attempted - the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s prestige 12-part mini-series the Watchmen. In today’s standards you could say it didn’t do well at the box office. I think incorporating the word “bombed” would be unfair for the film, but it certainly didn’t fair as well as the studio would of dreamed.

Enter Nic Collins from Tootalu Films. While Zack Snyder was some what successful in pleasing the fans on his 120+ million dollar epic Nic was trying to please the fans (and himself) with his next to zero budgeted film involving the same source material. When you compare apples to oranges both Zack and Nic came as close as any filmmaker would ever be able to make this classic story to film.

Enter Fanboy Will and me – Christopher Moshier. Two fan film fanatics that find it necessary to drag these great filmmakers kicking and screaming onto our show. We never even asked Zack Snyder. We were more interested in interviewing Nic about his fan film Fearful Symmetry. His vision of the graphic novel will certainly go down in fan film history. After talking to Nic we concluded he’s crazy. Only a crazy person would try such an ambitious project with such a minimal budget.

James Watson from Atlantis Studios is in the hot seat this week as Fanboy Will and I grill him about his comic book series turned live action short films called Paula Peril. We put Mr. Watson under the hot lights with no glass of water in site until he spilled the beans on this character that is a cross between Nancy Drew and a female Indiana Jones. Fanboy Will had to rap Mr. Watson’s knuckles a few times until James discussed how he was able to get the ever so beautiful Valerie Perez to play the title character. Finally, we worked Mr. Watson over until he spoke about the Tomb Raider collaborative fan magazine that he publishes. Eventually, Mr. Watson was let go with a warning, he would have to continue the great comic book and film adventures of Paula Peril or he would have to answer to the forces behind the Fan Film Podcast.

If you’re not aware they are the founding members of Gotham Public Works, a co-splay group of biblical proportions. Learn more about their upcoming Batman: Forsaken episodic fan films as well as they’re other endeavors away from the GPW.

NEXT WEEK: The gentleman is Mr. Clive Young and he will be discussing his brand, spanking new book; Homemade Hollywood. Check out Clive's fan film BLOG over at Fan Cinema Today.

Fanboy Will and I are always pleasantly surprised how down to Earth our guests are. At the end of each interview we always comment on how nice so and so was not to mention how personable. Come to think of it, the majority of our guests to date carry their own interviews making our lives a million times easier. Gotham Public Works is truly one of those interviews where Fanboy Will and I just got to sit back as we went along for the ride. Members Tara Strand (Harley Quinn), Donald Strand (The Joker), and Regan Remy (Catwoman) were kind enough to join us for this week’s cast discussing the philosophy behind the Batman themed group as well their upcoming fan film; Batman: Forsaken.

NEXT WEEK: We get a second round with the Gotham Public Works team. We’ll also be attempting to get the other members of the group on our cast sometime in 2009. So stay tuned true believers.

It's coming. December 13th it will finally arrive. There may be no need to do this Podcast any longer as on that day The Greatest Fan Film of All Time will premiere. This will be the last fan film EVER! OK! Not really. But it will kick ass. On today’s show I’ll be talking with one of the masterminds behind this animated masterpiece, Mr. (DRUM ROLL) Larry Longstreth. May we all bow to his greatness! May with lick the dog shit from his soiled shoe. Don’t even think of stepping in his awesome shadow. HEH! Sucking up to the guests for a follow-up interview never hurts. It works for Barbara Walters!

We've got two more interviews coming at you this year. I'll be posting them up as soon as possible. The holiday as well as a crazy work schedule has made getting them edited a challenge. BUT HAVE NO FEAR! They will be upon us and into your listening ear soon enough. In the very near future we will be talking with Tara Strand (Harley Quinn), Donald Strand (The Joker), and Regan Remy (Catwoman) from Gotham Public Works with hopes to have their other cast of characters on a future show. Immediately after the WORKS we will have Mr. Clive Young who will talk about his FAN FILM themed book "Homemade Hollywood". It shall be a good one. I shall demand it!

Fanboy Will and I will also be bringing you a Holiday Podcast with just the two of us discussing the past years Fan Films and Fan Films yet to come. So spike up the egg nog because it should be forty-five minutes of humorous (or was that humorless?) chaos.

2009!!! Fanboy Will and I are going to take the winter off in the beginning of the year so we can concentrate on our other projects that sometimes are pushed aside because of the Podcast. BUT HAVE NO FEAR! We’ll be back around a March or April time frame with all new guests. We already have a couple lined up. YEAH! We’re just that good. OK! We suck! But we still have the guests lined up.

Every fourth Thursday in November in the United States there is this tradition where we cook a large bird known as a Turkey, watch football, drink massive amounts of beer, and take the day to be grateful for all we take for granted. I am grateful for this fun podcast we try to put together on an almost weekly basis, my good friend and co-host Fanboy Will, our fantastic guests, and everyone else who takes the time to listen in about this most unsung of entertainment outlets - the FAN FILM! On behalf of Fanboy Will and myself we extend a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Now where's that beer!?!

There are so many great talents and names in the fan film maker world. There are those names that stand at the top of the list of quality of entertainment that Fanboy Will and I really wanted and want to be apart of the show. Ron Santiano from REDCAPE Cinema is one of those people. He is the first person that brought justice the character of Wonder Woman and her mythos through the fan film. From there, Ron has branched out to his original action, adventure series called Eve that could easily match any high concept show that is on mainstream television today. Ron and his Redscape staff really show how awesome entertainment can be produced on a shoe-string budget.

This is part one of a two part interview with Mr. Santiano.

NEXT WEEK: Well! If there is a two-parter and this week was the first part then obviously next week is part two. You see why I’m put in charge of producing this cast. I’m the brains, baby!

When you think of where movies are produced you instantly think of Kentucky don’t you? After all isn’t Kentucky the movie capital of the world? Isn’t the leading entertainment news source Access Kentucky? Is that famous game show originally hosted by Bert Parks called Kentucky Squares? And surely everyone has taken a stroll down the sidewalk of the Kentucky Walk of Fame.

This week’s guest is George Bonilla from ZP International Picture Production and Distributions. And if you haven’t guessed it yet his business is located in the "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" state of Kentucky. His company makes films with titles such as The Edison Death Machine, Redwood Justin: Vampire Hunter, and Hell-ephone. These are original independent character driven features not bogged down by the standard Hollywood formula.

As a side venture George has dabbled in the fan film with a quick little take on the Indiana Jones franchise with his offering the "Mummy's Skull" that stars pre-school and elementary school talents in the roles. Make sure you check out the short over at the FFP sister site, the Comic Book Bin.

IN TWO WEEKS: James Christopher is no stranger to the fan film. He's put together titles such as Batman: Death in the Family and Punisher: Slavers among others. Fanboy Will and James really get going into the comic books so expect a fun listen.

COMING SOON: The FFP is going to kick some major ass to end the year off right. We’re still expecting Chris Cowan & Alexander Randleman from "Elseworlds" to appear as soon as we can mesh our schedules. Add to that Ron Santiano from REDCAPE Cinema, Larry and Aaron Longstreth with animator Jacob Drake discussing arguably the most anticipated fan film of this year, "The Greatest Fan Film of All Time", and Tara Nicole Strand who is amassing her troops over at Gotham Public Works for a interview of mass proportions.
