When Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 1981 it left a lasting impression on a whole generation of movie goers like nothing that came before. Such is true for three young, strapping youths; Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb. Their passion for the film ignited a seven year “arc” of filming their own shot-by-shot adaptation in the backyards of their Mississippi homes.
This week the Fan Film Podcast interviews Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala about their experiences in the making of this classic fan film. The things they did to make this film were one part clever, one part innovative, and two parts crazy.
NEXT WEEK: Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala return as they talk about their experiences meeting Mr. Steven Spielberg and their original project they hope to bring to the big screen.

How do we know Marc Kimball? Oooohhhh…let us count the ways. There’s his Star Wars mockumentary, "The Star Wars Battle of Hoth." There’s his parody political satire, “Star Wars, Dantana Morse for Galactic Senate.” There’s his original short film, “Star Ranger 7: A Force of One.” But Marc is most well known for his classic fan film, “Superman: The Super 8 Movie” which has been picked up, used, and shelved more times than William Shatner’s hairpiece.
We go all over the place with Marc. Mr. Kimball certainly discusses his Superman film and how the powers that be at Warner Brothers initially requested it being taken off the internet. Also discussed is the new Star Trek film almost upon us as well as the Trek franchise as a whole. Just an hour of fanboy (and girl) chaos you would only expect from the FFP.
Make sure you take a look at all the hard (and fun!) work Marc and his peeps have produced by going to Star Ranger 7.com.
NEXT WEEK: “Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes?” Not to say that next week’s guests are snakes. They just happened to have filmed a shot for shot remake of the classic film that spawned the classic line. Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala swing into the show talk about their Fan Film classic based on a classic - Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The Flash first appeared in the Golden Age Flash Comics #1, January of 1940, from All-American Publications, one of three companies that would eventually merge to form DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, this Flash was Jay Garrick, a college student who gained his speed through the inhalation of hard water vapors, wearing a winged metal helmet reminiscent of the mythological Greek god Hermes. Through the years three other Speedsters would take on the mantle; Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen.
Jason Damian from Influence Films uses the Wally West version of the Flash character for his first foray into fandom filming with "The Flash: Crossover". The film also has Harley Quinn and Talia al Ghul making an unprecedented alliance. When every other fan film is based on the Star Wars or Batman mythos it’s refreshing to see another of DC’s giants make it into live action.
We talk to Jason this week about his DC character offering as well as his upcoming Mortal Kombat film, "The Tobias Diamond".
NEXT WEEK: Marc Kimball does we he loves for a living and loves what he does for play. We’ll talk to Marc about his classic Superman fan film as well as his other offerings. Make sure you check out his site at Star Ranger 7.com.

Enter the most controversial comic book adaptation to film that has ever been attempted - the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s prestige 12-part mini-series the Watchmen. In today’s standards you could say it didn’t do well at the box office. I think incorporating the word “bombed” would be unfair for the film, but it certainly didn’t fair as well as the studio would of dreamed.
Enter Nic Collins from Tootalu Films. While Zack Snyder was some what successful in pleasing the fans on his 120+ million dollar epic Nic was trying to please the fans (and himself) with his next to zero budgeted film involving the same source material. When you compare apples to oranges both Zack and Nic came as close as any filmmaker would ever be able to make this classic story to film.
Enter Fanboy Will and me – Christopher Moshier. Two fan film fanatics that find it necessary to drag these great filmmakers kicking and screaming onto our show. We never even asked Zack Snyder. We were more interested in interviewing Nic about his fan film Fearful Symmetry. His vision of the graphic novel will certainly go down in fan film history. After talking to Nic we concluded he’s crazy. Only a crazy person would try such an ambitious project with such a minimal budget.
NEXT WEEK: Enter Jason Damian from Influence Films.
