Fan Film Podcast Episode 61

Download this episode (68 min)
Welcome back to the FFP. We kick off our first show of 2010 with not one, but two interviews. Our first guest is Tim Brown representing Inked Monkey Productions talks briefly and answers a few questions about the third annual Superman Celebration Fan Film Competition held in Metropolis, Illinois. We’ve asked Tim back on our Podcast in June when he’ll give us a play by play of the happenings of the competition as well as the entire Superman Celebration as a whole. You can learn more about the competition, rules, and prizes by linking HERE.

For our second guest we bring you a man who calls himself Clutch! YEPPER! Just Clutch. He's the writer and director behind the unique Star Wars fan film Makazie One. In my opinion and I’ll also speak for Fanboy Will the best two Star Wars Fan Films released in the year 2009 are by far Crossroads of Destiny and Makazie One. These films clearly show that the combination of talent, technology, and simple love for the universe which these characters are based is shrinking the gap to what we see Lucasfilm release compared to what we can make with our own ingenuity. What Clutch has done with Makazie One is put his own staple onto the Star Wars mythos incorporating a different style and mood to the franchise not yet seen before. The results? AMAZING! Make sure to check out the official Makazie One website.

Clutch also discusses his original science fiction project, The Butterfly Chronicles.

Fan Film Podcast Episode 60

Fanboy Will attended the 2009 Big Apple Comic Convention most specifically a panel that was supposed to include The Dukes of Hazzard stars Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, and John Schneider. It turned out the only one able to attend due to various reasons was John Schneider. He did not disappoint as he talked very candidly about both Hazzard and his other SUPER acting gig on Smallville.

IN TWO WEEKS OR WHAT IS TO COME! I honestly don’t know. We’ve been in contact with Amber Moelter from Catwoman Copycat and Catwoman Resolution. It’s just a matter of nailing down a time out of her busy schedule. We’ve also been attempting to get Robert Chapin on the podcast to talk about his original property The Hunted. Again, he’s crazy busy, but they’ll both be on at some point.

I’d also like to mention Fanboy Will and I have both been hard at work on our respective sites. While Will’s Fanboy Theatre is being revamped you can visit his brand, spanking new BLOG. I’ve finally started my own site after writing for others all these years. With this podcast post I officially announce the opening of the new Fan Film Follies. Queue cheers, fireworks, and balloons. I must mention the title logo was created by fan film posterboy Jeff Hayes. Thanks, Jeff!

I'm not sure if we'll have further shows for 2009. I don't have to tell you how busy this time of year is. BUT! We WILL be back in 2010. Hope to see you then.

This week we’ve got two – two shows in one. The first half of this week’s show we speak to Kellen Gibbs and George Norman Lippert about the Harry Potter themed fan film production “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing”. There’s an interesting spin on how this film came about. George wrote a full length fan fiction novel continuing the series originally created by J. K. Rowling. Kellen, in turn, found the story online visualizing George’s writing into a short film. On Saturday, November 21st that film will be put online for the world to see.

The second half of this week’s show we’ll talk to Fanboy Will about his experiences at this year’s Big Apple Comic Convention that was held October 16th through the 18th. He was able to briefly speak with Supergirl’s Helen Slater and Smallville’s John Schneider.

IN TWO WEEKS: We’ll have audio from John Schneider’s panel from the Big Apple Comic Convention. It should be a treat for Dukes of Hazard and Smallville fans alike.

These guys and gals we talk to never fail to impress us with their talents and their approachable personalities. Dan is yet another in a long line of class acts.

IN TWO WEEKS: Fanboy Will does it again. Will attends the Big Apple Comic Convention where he was able to speak with Supergirl Helen Slater and Smallville’s John Schneider.

Fan Film Podcast Episode 57

Dan Poole from Alpha Dog Productions is another fan film legend who has helped pave the way for today’s fan film makers. For Fanboy Will, Dan and his film "Green Goblin's Last Stand" is the single reason why he’s a fan of the genre and the reason we do this podcast today. Thanks, Dan!

In this interview we not only talk about Dan's Spiderman film, but we also discuss his second fan production "Wolverine Last Call" made for the San Diego Comic Con. When the San Diego Comic Con refused to play anymore fan films due to the success of Sandy Collora’s "Batman: Dead End" a year before and the license holders having a pissy fit the Wolvie film had to change venues via a local bar near the convention center. This experience tainted Dan’s want to continue with his fan film career so he does what most fan film makers eventually do – he turned to his own original concepts.

This is part one of the two part interview with Dan.

IN TWO WEEKS: After part one must come part two. We continue our talk with Dan who talks about his original project.
